What is your CL Utility Stack?

I still consider myself new to Common Lisp with only about a year of experience in this language. I was wondering what libraries more experienced people pulled in to a project to make development more comfortable.

Whenever I start a project, I currently pull in the following libraries.

str
cl-ppcre
dotenv
serapeum (This one is kinda new for me, but I want to use it more.)

Personally, I don't have a default set; I just pull in whatever libraries are relevant to what I'm doing.

So far my projects are small and the uiop library suffices.

str looks interesting, but I would only consider pulling it in if I am repeating myself too much!

for datetime work local-time is the standard.

Another library that I think would be used a lot is trivia for pattern-matching.

Depending on whether you want to code like clojure:

fset

I have nothing that I use systematically for everything, but libraries I use frequently are:

uiop
arrow-macros
alexandria
str

What I hesitate about is fset. Personally, I like it, but I wonder if relying more on fset would make my code less understandable by others. This comes down to wondering what percentage of CL coders are familiar with fset.

khinsen It's funny you mention fset. I was thinking of giving it a try.

ggxx Go ahead! It's a very well designed library, very nice to work with. I use it a lot in personal code (scripts etc.). My hesitation is only about published libraries, because fset-style code is quite different from standard Lisp code.

Maybe that's a good thing. From the fset intro:

The ultimate goal of FSet is an ambitious one: to be the default choice for collection types in
Common Lisp. By "default", I mean the one you can be in the habit of using most of the time, except
when you know you need something more specialized.

ggxx It's certainly intended. Whether it's good or bad depends on your priorities, and I haven't yet clearly defined mine when it comes to libraries I write for sharing with others (rather than just for myself). If I go for fset style, how will potential users or collaborators react? I really don't know.

Anytime I'm using regexps, I'm absolutely including this package from now on. The verbosity of using cl-ppcre goes away, and string manipulation with regexps becomes quite terse and Perl-like (and far more readable in my opinion).
